THE FRONT WHEEL HUBS MAY EXPERIENCE HIGH MILEAGE FATIGUE CRACKING IN THE AREA OF THE WHEEL STUD MOUNTING BOSSES. THESE CRACKS COULD PROGRESS UNTIL THE WHEEL MOUNTING FLANGE SEPARATES FROM THE HUB ALLOWING THE WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY TO DISENGAGE FROM THE VEHICLE.

On certain WT9000 vehicles built between september 1973 and march 1974 equipped with 12,000 pount front axles and forged aluminum front wheel hubs. Wheel hubs may experience high mileage fatigue cracks in the wheel mounting flange of the hub. The wheel mounting flange could separate from the remainder of the hub.

Certain CT800, CT8000, CT900, LNT880, LT800, LT8000, LT880, LT900, LTN800, LTN8000, LTN900, LTN9000, LTS800, LTS8000, LTS900 and WT9000 vehicles were equipped with rockwell slhd tandem rear axles that may experience housing fracture due to inadequate wall thickness just inboard of the wheel spindle-to- housing frinction weld. Complete fracture of the housing can result in separation of the wheel spindle from the axle housing. Should this occur, the dual rear wheels and tires mounted on the spindle would detach and roll free from the vehicle endangering persons who may be nearby. Although ford canada is not aware of any reports of related field problems, it has been determined by laboratory testing
